The Government of Guatemala has awarded a key construction contract under the Crecer Sano: Guatemala Nutrition and Health Project to Sistemas y Servicios de Ingeniería S.A.. The contract, which is valued at GTQ 3.59 million, is to improve nutrition and health outcomes in rural areas by improving local health infrastructure in Aldea Seguachil, Aldea Chajmaic, and Raxruň. The award was officially published on September 24, 2025, under Project ID P159213, with financing from the World Bank (Loan IBRD-87300).
The contract, identified under reference GT-MSPAS-486040-CW-RFB, was issued through the Request for Bids (RFB) procurement method by Guatemala’s Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance (MSPAS). Sistemas y Servicios de Ingeniería S.A., a respectable Guatemalan engineering and construction company, was the successful bidder after an open and competitive evaluation procedure.
The contract, worth GTQ 3,595,500.00, covers Lot 1 of the project, focusing on infrastructure works in Seguachil, Chajmaic, and Raxruhá. As part of Guatemala's national policy to fight chronic malnutrition and improve maternal and child health, the scope includes building and modernising sanitary systems and health-related facilities.
The four-month contract indicates a brief yet significant implementation schedule. On September 3, 2025, the grant notification was released, indicating quick mobilisation for the start of on-site construction.
A rival bidder, YJES Consultoría, Asesoría, Avalúos, Construção e Inversiones S.A., entered the evaluation stage and was found to be unresponsive, leading to a single prize.
Sistemas y Servicios de Ingeniería S.A. (SSI), based in Guatemala City, specializes in civil works, infrastructure design, and project management. The company has extensive experience in executing government-funded projects across health, sanitation, and education sectors. Its consistent performance and technical expertise positioned it as a suitable partner for the Crecer Sano initiative.
The Crecer Sano: Guatemala Nutrition and Health Project - a flagship program supported by the World Bank - aims to reduce childhood stunting, improve maternal care, and strengthen community health systems in Guatemala’s most vulnerable regions.
